A daylong mini-retreat focused on the science of mindfulness and mindfulness-based practices. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the science supporting the efficacy of mindfulness-based programs and engage in a set of diverse mindfulness-based practices, including but not limited to body scan, lovingkindness, mindful movement, sitting meditation, forest therapy, and breathwork.
Research over the past few decades, described on the Association on Mindfulness in Education’s website (www.mindfuleducation.org) has posited mindfulness training develops: increased attention, increased executive function (working memory, planning, organization, and impulse control), increased emotional regulation, increased social skills, decreased depression, increased self-calming, increased sense of calmness, relaxation, self-acceptance, and other aspects of positive social emotional wellness.
